Nowadays I use more oat milk in the kitchen than any other milk, as I have learned that it suits my body better than example cow milk. It is also a good product as you can use it so many different ways – for your smoothie, raw porridge or with your granola. I do not like the fact that many of the plant-based milk (soy, oat, almond etc.) are full of additives so I have been quite picky which oat milk I want to use. Then after one conversation, I realized it is actually super easy to make your own oat milk and I have been wondering why did I not realize this already long time ago!
Oat milk is super easy to make and you can easily make so many different version of it. I made the natural one, with only 3 ingredients, but by adding example cinnamon, coconut or some other nuts to it, you can make amazing flavoured milk.
Oat Milk (1 litre)
- 1 l water
- 100g oats
- pinch of salt
SOAK oats in cold water for 15-30 minutes
POUR out the water and rinse the oats lightly
ADD the oats, water and salt to a blender and mix until it is smooth
STRAIN the milk by using a very fine sieve
STORE in a glass bottle in the fridge for 2-4 days
